Everything you need to know!

We've compiled answers to the most frequently asked questions about BBLIO's features and how to work with us.

A book license primarily grants online access for a specific period of time, ranging from 15 days to 3 years, depending on the edition. For licenses provided to schools, access is generally valid for the current academic year, as specified in the product description or in the specific terms of the product. The duration of the license is specified in each product’s description and does not entail downloading or unlimited possession of the content.

Some licenses also include the option to download part or all of the book to a supported device for offline use. Content made available offline may not include features that require an internet connection, such as interactive activities, artificial intelligence services, progress synchronization, LMS, and usage reports. Where applicable, offline access may be valid for up to five years from the date of download. It is provided exclusively on the device on which the download took place and requires that the device, operating system, reader application, and related software remain functional and compatible. All licenses are personal, apply to a single user, and are non-transferable.

BBLIO books are accessible via modern browsers, with no additional software required. In addition, the content can be published in various formats, such as PDF, EPUB, HTML, and others, depending on each publisher’s needs.

In terms of interoperability, BBLIO supports the export of data, reports, and educational outcomes in standardized formats, such as CSV and XML, so that they can be utilized by other information or educational systems.

Where called for by the specific project, the use of educational interoperability standards, such as SCORM, may also be considered, depending on the technical requirements and the implementation model.

Of course. The content always remains the property of the publisher. In the event that our collaboration ends, the publisher will receive the files they have uploaded to the platform, in accordance with the terms of our agreement.

You. The copyright and ownership of the content always remain with the publisher. BBLIO provides only the technological infrastructure for publishing, distributing, and managing the content.

Yes. BBLIO has been designed with a focus on data protection and compliance with the GDPR. The data is used exclusively for the operation of the platform’s services and is not shared with third parties for advertising or other commercial purposes.

BBLIO provides technical support regarding access, code activation, and the platform’s operation. The publishing house remains responsible only for matters related to educational content. This allows you to focus on your books without having to deal with day-to-day technical issues from users.

No, no additional work is required. BBLIO supports multiple publication formats, ranging from simple PDFs to fully interactive HTML books.

You can start uploading your existing files to the system right away and gradually choose the level of digital enrichment you desire. There is no need to redesign your publishing catalog or change your production process.

You decide “how much interaction” you want each of your books to have.

Yes. BBLIO supports the addition of external interactive content to a book’s pages, for example through citations, links, or other available access points to the third-party platform.

You should be aware, however, that when activities are carried out on an external platform, BBLIO's LMS does not record students’ performance history, responses, or progress within those activities. If the primary goal is student self-assessment, linking to third-party platform content should work without any issues. However, if you are interested in fully tracking progress, performance, and reports within the LMS, we recommend creating the activities directly using BBLIO’s tools.

Yes. You can start with even just one title and gradually expand your digital library according to your needs and strategy.

Yes. BBLIO does not require exclusivity or a specific distribution model. You can sell your books however you wish. BBLIO is simply an additional revenue stream.

No, no application installation is required for online use. Access is via a browser from computers, tablets, and mobile phones, without any installations, software updates, or complex technical procedures. In certain cases of offline access, when increased content protection is required, a special reader application may be used. For Windows and Mac computers, these applications are provided as portable applications, meaning they run without being installed on the user’s system. In contrast, on mobile phones and tablets, where the operating system requires it, offline access is provided by installing the corresponding app from the device’s app store.

BBLIO prohibits the collection, analysis, and use of its content by artificial intelligence systems for the purpose of training models. We take technical and contractual measures to block automated data collection systems so that publishers’ content is not used to train artificial intelligence models without permission. BBLIO blocks known AI crawlers, web crawlers, and automated data collection systems through technical access control mechanisms and security policies. Authentication (login) is always required to access the content. This means that publishers’ books and educational content are not published on openly accessible websites, but are made available exclusively to authorized users through a controlled access environment. At the same time, BBLIO’s Terms of Use explicitly prohibit automated content collection (scraping), data mining, and the use of content to train or improve artificial intelligence systems without the prior written permission of the rights holder. In conclusion, although no online system can guarantee absolute protection against every possible malicious act, BBLIO implements technical and contractual measures to ensure that publishers’ content is not available for systematic collection or use by third-party artificial intelligence systems.

Yes. With BBLIO, you can offer the same book with different types of licenses, depending on your audience, sales channel, and commercial policy.

For example, you can issue different sets of activation codes for the same book, each with distinct features, such as different access durations, student or teacher editions, school licenses, subscription-based access, product bundles, or special licenses for specific partners or markets. This way, the same title can be made available through multiple business models without having to create a different product for each scenario.

As a publisher, you have full control over how solutions are displayed in your textbooks. Solutions can be visible only to teachers, hidden from students, or enabled selectively, depending on the policy you choose for each title.

For example, you can initially release a book with the solutions hidden and then make them available to specific user groups or even individual users, provided there is a relevant request or a specific commercial agreement.

Yes. You can correct, update, and enhance your digital content at any time, without having to wait for a new print run or a revised edition.

Yes. You can embed audio, interactive exercises, animations, simulations, and other educational features within the pages of your books.

Of course. You can embed videos on your book pages and make them available only to users who have an active access license for the book.

Unlike standard video hosting solutions, knowing the video’s URL is not enough to view it. The user must be logged into their account and have access rights to that specific book.

This allows you to use commercial video lessons, presentations, interviews, and other educational television content without making it freely available online.

See more about collaboration models

Yes. You can grant access permissions to collaborators, editors, authors, or external content creators so they can participate in the creation, digitization, or enrichment of the same book. The platform has safeguards in place for collaborative work. For example, when a user attempts to work on a book or page that another collaborator is already working on, the system notifies them accordingly. To prevent accidental overwrites or loss of content, the second user can create new content, which is stored in a special repository within the book. This material can then be reviewed, retrieved, and placed on the appropriate page by the editor or by a user with the appropriate permissions.

At this time, BBLIO works exclusively with publishing houses and organizations that have established publishing operations and does not offer self-publishing services.

If you are an author looking for a publisher for your work, you can contact the dedicated department at BBLIO. To have your proposal reviewed, please send it to newbook@bblio.com:

  1. Biographical Note.
  2. The table of contents for your book.
  3. A representative chapter or excerpt as a sample.

We recommend that you secure your copyright beforehand. If your work is deemed suitable for one of our partner publishing houses, BBLIO can put you in touch with the relevant publisher. The evaluation process is usually completed within two (2) months.
